Morphotectonic Evolution of an Alluvial Fan: Results of a Joint Analog and Numerical Modeling Approach

Surface topography results from complex couplings and feedbacks between tectonics surface processes. We combine analog numerical modeling, sharing similar geometry boundary conditions, to assess the topographic evolution of an alluvial fan crossed by active thrust fault. This joint approach allows calibration critical parameters constraining river deposition–incision laws, such as settling velocity suspended sediments, bed-rock erodibility, or slope exponent. Comparing models reveals a slope-dependent threshold process, where ca. 0.081 controls temporal drainage network. only evidence minor differences stable stick-slip fault behavior localized along scarp.
